Q: How often should electrode pads be replaced?

Most pads last 20–30 applications. Replace them once they stop sticking evenly — poor contact concentrates the current and causes stinging.

Question 1

Who should not use a TENS or EMS unit?

Accepted Answer

Do not use one if you have a pacemaker or any implanted electrical device, if you are pregnant, if you have epilepsy or a heart condition, or over broken skin. Never place pads on the front of the neck, across the chest, on the head, or over the eyes. Check with a clinician if you are unsure.

Question 3

Does EMS build muscle on its own?

Accepted Answer

No. It produces a contraction, which is useful for activation and comfort, but it does not replace loaded training for building strength or size. Devices marketed as a substitute for exercise are overselling.
