The Cheapest Injury Prevention You’ll Buy
Winter falls are not a minor risk. Slipping on ice is a leading cause of wrist fractures and hip fractures, and in older adults a hip fracture is a genuinely serious event with a long recovery. A set of traction cleats costs less than a physio appointment and pulls over the shoes you already own. It’s the highest return-on-investment purchase on this entire site.
Key Benefits
- Eight steel spikes that bite into ice and packed snow
- Pulls over any footwear — no special boots needed
- Elastic frame that holds securely without pinching
- Genuinely prevents falls — the leading winter cause of wrist and hip fractures
- Folds into a pocket when you reach clear ground
- Suits walking, running and dog-walking
How to Use
Stretch the elastic frame over the toe of the shoe, then pull the heel section back over. Check both are fully seated before setting off. Remove them indoors and on smooth hard floors — steel spikes on tile, polished concrete or wooden floors are extremely slippery, and people do fall taking them into shops. They are for ice and packed snow, not for bare pavement, where the spikes wear down quickly.
