Cervical Acupressure Neck Pillow – Traction Support for Neck Fatigue & Stiffness

$21.99

A cervical acupressure neck pillow combines traction support with raised pressure points to ease neck stiffness. It is a contoured foam block with a moulded acupressure surface, used lying down. Build up from five minutes at a time, and stop if you feel tingling or numbness in the arms.

Your Neck Has a Curve. Screens Flatten It.

The cervical spine is meant to hold a gentle forward curve — a lordosis — and the deep neck flexors and extensors work all day to maintain it. Hours spent looking down at a screen flatten that curve and hold the neck in sustained flexion, which loads the posterior muscles and the discs continuously without a break. A contoured cervical pillow works by supporting the head while allowing the neck to settle back into extension, letting the muscles that have been guarding all day switch off. The raised acupressure nodes add localised pressure to the suboccipital area — the small muscles at the base of the skull that are the usual source of tension headaches.

Key Benefits

  • Restores the cervical curve, passively. You do nothing. Gravity and the contour do the work while your neck extensors finally get to stop holding.
  • Acupressure nodes hit the suboccipitals. The tight band at the base of your skull is where screen tension lives and where tension headaches often start. Sustained pressure there is remarkably effective at getting it to let go.
  • Gentle traction effect. The contour creates a mild decompressive pull through the neck as the head settles — a far cheaper and gentler version of what a traction device does.
  • No power, no charging, no maintenance. It works every day forever and cannot break down.
  • Ten minutes is a full dose. This is not something you have to schedule an hour for. Lie on the floor, put it under your neck, breathe.
  • What it isn’t: a nightly sleeping pillow. Firm acupressure pillows are therapy tools, not eight-hour pillows — using it all night is uncomfortable for most people and unnecessary.

How to Use

Lie flat on your back on a firm surface — the floor with a mat is better than a soft bed, which absorbs the contour and defeats the point. Place the pillow so the raised ridge sits under your neck and the hollow cradles the back of your skull; your head should tilt gently back, not be propped forward. Let your arms rest wide, unclench your jaw, and breathe slowly. Start with 5 minutes and build up. The nodes will feel intense at first and 10–15 minutes is plenty even once you’re used to it. If a spot is sharply painful rather than a deep pressure-ache, shift position. Getting off it slowly matters: roll onto your side first and use your arm to push up rather than sitting straight up from the neck. Safety: stop and see a clinician rather than using this if you have neck pain following trauma or a fall, any numbness, tingling, weakness or pins and needles in your arms or hands, dizziness, or a diagnosed cervical spine condition such as spinal stenosis, disc herniation, rheumatoid arthritis of the neck, or osteoporosis. Never use it on an infant or child. If it triggers dizziness or a headache, discontinue it.

Care & Maintenance

If the cover is removable, take it off and machine wash it cool, then air-dry it; do not tumble dry, as heat can shrink the cover onto the core. Wipe the core itself with a barely damp cloth and let it dry fully — never soak it or put the core in a washing machine. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, since heat degrades foam and warps moulded contours. Store it uncompressed rather than stuffed under heavy objects, so the contour keeps its shape. Replace it when the contour no longer springs back after use.

Common questions

Where should a lumbar cushion sit?
At belt height, in the natural inward curve of the lower back. Set higher, it pushes the shoulders forward and creates the slouch it is meant to prevent.
How long does it take to get used to a contoured pillow?
About a week. Most people who abandon a cervical or contoured pillow do so in the first three nights, before their neck has adapted to the new position.
Does a wedge pillow help acid reflux?
Raising the upper body helps when the incline starts at the waist. Propping only the head bends the stomach and can make reflux worse.
