Pelvic & Postpartum Support
A pelvic support belt sits low, across the hips rather than the waist, and applies compression to the pelvic girdle. Postpartum belly bands sit higher and support the abdominal wall. They are different products with different fits, and using the wrong one is the most common mistake.
A small, focused collection of pelvic and postpartum supports.
How to position a pelvic belt
A pelvic support belt goes below the belly and around the widest part of the hips, level with the top of the hip bones. If it is sitting at your waist it is too high to do its job. It should feel supportive without restricting your breathing.
Frequently asked questions
When can I start using a postpartum support band?
This depends on the type of birth and how recovery is going, so follow the guidance of your midwife, obstetrician or physiotherapist rather than a general rule. This is general support equipment, not a medical device, and nothing here is medical advice.
How long should it be worn each day?
Most guidance suggests a few hours at a time during activity rather than continuously, so the deep abdominal and pelvic muscles keep working. Your clinician should set the timeframe.
How do I size a pelvic belt?
Measure around the hips at their widest point, not the waist. If you are between sizes, take the larger for comfort during longer wear.
