Being Seen at Night Takes an Active Light, Not Just Reflectors
Reflective material is passive: it returns light that hits it, so a driver only sees you once their headlights are already trained your way — often at a distance where reacting is uncomfortable. An active chest light is visible from far further out, and because it sits at torso height and moves with your stride, it reads unmistakably as a human rather than a roadside object. The 500-lumen beam also does the second job: it throws enough light onto the path ahead to reveal the kerb edge, the pothole and the tree root, which is where most night-running injuries actually come from.
Key Benefits
- 500 lumens of usable path light: Bright enough to genuinely light the ground ahead, not just announce your presence — you can see the surface you are about to land on.
- 45° adjustable tilt: Angle the beam down for trail footing or flatter for road running, so the light lands where you are looking rather than into the middle distance.
- 360° reflective vest: Reflective panels front, back and sides mean you are visible from a car approaching at any angle, including from a side road.
- Active plus passive together: The light makes you conspicuous at distance; the reflectors catch headlights up close. Neither one alone covers both cases.
- IPX4 water resistance: Rated to handle splashing from any direction — rain and puddle spray are fine. It is not rated for submersion.
- Chest-mounted and stable: Worn on the torso rather than the head, so the beam does not bounce with every footfall and does not blind people you look at.
How to Use
Fit the vest over your outer layer and pull the straps snug enough that the light does not bounce as you run — a loose harness makes the beam swing and defeats the point. Angle the head down so the bright part of the beam lands about three to five metres ahead of you on the road; any higher and you are lighting up the faces of oncoming drivers and cyclists, which is worse than no light at all. Charge it fully before a long run and know your runtime; a light that dies mid-route on an unlit road is a real problem. SAFETY — never point 500 lumens at the eyes of a driver, cyclist or pedestrian, and drop the beam or cover it as vehicles pass. Being visible is not the same as being safe: keep running facing oncoming traffic where there is no path, do not assume a driver has seen you just because you are lit, and keep at least one ear free of headphones. Check the light works before you leave, not after.

Care & Maintenance
Wipe the lens clean with a soft cloth; a dusty or salt-crusted lens loses a surprising amount of output. Rinse the vest webbing in cool water after wet or sweaty runs and hang it to dry rather than machine washing with the light attached — always detach the unit first. Do not submerge the light; IPX4 covers splashing, not immersion. Recharge every few months if stored unused, as lithium cells degrade when left flat.
