Recovery Isn’t Only Physical
Drop a steamer on the shower floor and water reacts with the bicarbonate and citric acid base, fizzing the tablet apart and releasing its essential oils into the rising steam, which carries them to you as vapour. What that vapour does is worth being precise about. Scent is the only sense wired almost directly into the limbic system — the brain’s emotional and memory centre — which is why a smell can shift your mood faster than a thought can. The evidence for aromatherapy as a treatment for disease is weak. The evidence that a warm shower and a scent you associate with winding down helps you relax is your own nervous system, and it is enough.
Key Benefits
- Turns a routine shower into a wind-down cue. Repeating the same scent at the end of the day builds an association your nervous system learns to respond to — a genuine, learnable relaxation trigger.
- Essential oil vapour, released by steam. The tablet fizzes on contact with water and carries the aroma up in the steam, so the whole cubicle fills rather than just the floor.
- Far more practical than a bath bomb. No tub, no forty minutes, no cleaning the ring afterwards — it works in the shower you were already taking.
- A sensible post-training ritual. Pairs naturally with the warm shower most people take after a session, when you are trying to shift out of a keyed-up sympathetic state.
- Six individually usable tablets. One per shower, so a pack lasts, and it presents well as a gift.
- What it is not. A shower steamer does not treat illness, clear an infection, or replace medical care. It is a mood and sensory product, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
How to Use
Place one tablet on the shower floor, away from the direct stream of water — directly under the flow it will dissolve in under a minute and you will have wasted it. Off to one side, or in a corner where it catches splash and steam, it releases gradually over several minutes. Run the water warm and keep the door or curtain closed to hold the steam in. Breathe normally; there is no need to inhale deeply or hold the tablet near your face. Rinse the residue away afterwards so the floor does not become slippery. SAFETY: do not use in the bath, do not apply directly to the skin, and keep out of reach of children and pets — these are not edible. If you have asthma, a respiratory condition, fragrance sensitivity or are pregnant, check with your doctor first, as concentrated essential oil vapour can trigger irritation or bronchospasm in some people. Stop using it if you develop a headache, a cough or any skin irritation. Take care with your footing: a partly dissolved tablet on the shower floor can be slippery.

Care & Maintenance
Keep the tablets sealed in a cool, dry place away from steam and humidity — a bathroom cabinet is fine, but the shower shelf is not: ambient moisture will slowly set off the effervescent reaction and the tablets will go flat before you use them. Handle them with dry hands. Store well out of reach of children and pets, and rinse any residue from the shower floor after each use to keep the surface from becoming slick.
