Weightlifting Gloves with Wrist Support – Breathable Anti-Slip Gym Gloves

Price range: $39.99 through $49.99

Weightlifting gloves with integrated wrist support, in a breathable anti-slip knit. The palm padding protects against bar knurling on high-rep work and the wrist wrap stops the wrist bending back under pressing loads. Measure around your palm at the knuckles, excluding the thumb; between sizes, size down for grip and up for padding.

Grip, Callus Control, and Wrist Stability

A glove doesn’t add strength; it changes the mechanics at the hand-bar interface. Padding spreads the bar’s pressure across a wider area of the palm, which is what stops the knurling concentrating load into the ridge at the base of your fingers, where calluses form and eventually tear. The anti-slip surface raises the coefficient of friction against a sweaty bar. And the integrated wrist wrap adds passive support to the radiocarpal joint, resisting the hyperextension that happens when a heavy bar drifts back over the heel of the hand during a press. Three different mechanisms, three different problems.

Key Benefits

  • Spreads bar pressure across the palm. The direct route to fewer torn calluses, which is the most common reason lifters lose a week of training.
  • Anti-slip surface. Sweat is what makes a bar slip; a high-friction palm buys you back the grip you lost.
  • Integrated wrist wrap. Passive support against wrist hyperextension under bench press, overhead press and front-rack work.
  • Breathable construction. Ventilated panels keep the hand cooler, and a cooler hand is a drier hand.
  • Protects the hands outside the gym too. Kettlebells, pull-up bars, rowing and general handling.
  • Honest limitation: take them off for heavy pulls. A glove adds material thickness, effectively increasing bar diameter and making it harder to close your hand around it. For maximal deadlifts, most lifters are better bare-handed or using straps — we’d rather tell you that than sell you a myth.

How to Use

Put the glove on with the palm padding sitting flat across the base of the fingers, not bunched, then wrap the wrist strap around the joint and fasten it firmly — snug enough to resist the wrist bending backwards, but not so tight that your hand starts tingling or turning colour, which means you have restricted blood flow and should loosen it immediately. Tighten the wrist for heavy pressing sets and loosen it between sets; leaving a wrap cranked down for a whole session is unnecessary and uncomfortable. Do not use gloves as a substitute for building actual grip strength — if your hands are the weak link on rows and pulls, train them directly rather than papering over it.

Care & Maintenance

Air the gloves out after every session rather than sealing them straight into a gym bag — the smell is bacterial and it is entirely preventable. Hand-wash in cool water with mild soap when they need it, and air-dry away from direct heat; a radiator or tumble dryer will harden and crack the palm material and destroy the elastic in the wrist strap. Check the stitching and Velcro periodically; once a wrist strap stops holding, its support value is gone.

Common questions

Where should the padding sit in cycling gloves?
Under the heel of the hand, where the handlebar presses on the ulnar nerve. Padding placement matters more than thickness, and too much padding can actually increase pressure elsewhere.
Wrist wraps or lifting straps?
Wraps stiffen and support the wrist joint for pressing and overhead work. Straps loop around the bar to take grip out of the equation on heavy pulls. They solve different problems.
How do you wash gym gloves?
Cold hand wash and air dry. Machine washing and tumble drying stiffen leather palms and delaminate padded inserts.
