Why Protein Powder Clumps – And What A Vortex Actually Fixes
Protein powder clumps for a physical reason. The moment dry particles hit water, their outer surface hydrates and turns gel-like, sealing dry powder inside. Shaking by hand relies on a wire ball bouncing around, which breaks big clumps but rarely wets every particle. A motorised impeller instead spins the liquid into a sustained vortex, applying continuous shear that separates particles and wets each one individually. That is the whole mechanism. It will not change how your body absorbs protein, and no shaker can. It just means a smooth drink instead of a gritty one.
Key Benefits
- Genuinely lump-free mixing. Sustained vortex shear beats a bouncing wire ball, particularly with thicker powders like mass gainers, collagen and greens blends that resist hand shaking.
- Mixes what a shaker ball struggles with. Creatine monohydrate, instant coffee and fibre powders suspend far more evenly when the liquid is kept moving for a few seconds rather than agitated in bursts.
- 700ml usable capacity. Enough headroom for a double scoop plus water without the lid leaking under pressure when you invert it.
- USB-C charging, not disposable batteries. One port, one cable, and no hunting for AAAs in a gym bag.
- Quiet enough for an office kitchen. It is a small impeller in liquid, not a blender – expect a low hum, not a shriek.
- No claim we cannot back. This does not improve nutrient uptake, boost metabolism, or make your protein ‘work better’. It removes lumps and the arm-shaking. That is what you are paying for.
How to Use
Add liquid first, then powder – dumping powder into an empty bottle and then adding water is the single most reliable way to get a sludge layer at the base. Seal the lid, hold the bottle upright and hold the power button for two to three seconds, then let the vortex run for eight to ten seconds. For thick gainers or two scoops, run it twice with a short pause rather than one long burst; that gives the powder time to hydrate between cycles. Do not put boiling or very hot liquid in it – heat can warp the seal and pressurise the bottle, and hot liquid plus a sealed lid is how people get scalded. Do not run the motor dry, and do not submerge the motorised base or charging port in water.

Care & Maintenance
Rinse immediately after use – dried protein is the reason shakers smell. Hand-wash the bottle with warm soapy water and a bottle brush; leave the lid off to air-dry so moisture does not sit in the seal. Wipe the motorised base with a damp cloth only. Never put the base in a dishwasher or submerge it, and keep the USB-C port dry. If it starts to smell, soak the bottle overnight with a spoon of bicarbonate of soda.
