Pull-Up & Suspension Trainers

A pull-up bar and a suspension trainer between them cover almost all upper-body pulling and pressing without a single weight plate. The bar needs a suitable door frame; the trainer needs one anchor point and a bag to live in.

This collection holds 13 doorway bars, mounted bars and suspension trainer systems.

Check your door frame before you buy

Leverage-mount doorway bars push against the wall above the door rather than screwing into it, so the trim has to take the load. Before ordering, check: door opening between 24in and 36in wide, at least 6in of flat trim above the opening, and solid trim rather than hollow plasterboard. If any of those fail, choose a wall-mounted bar or a suspension trainer with a door anchor instead.

Frequently asked questions

Will a doorway pull-up bar damage the frame?

It can mark trim over time. A folded towel between the bar and the frame prevents most of it. Screw-mounted and wall-mounted bars are the safer option for heavier users and long-term use.

Are suspension trainers as good as weights?

For bodyweight strength, mobility and core, they are excellent and take almost no space. They cannot replace external load once you are chasing maximum strength, because your bodyweight is the ceiling.

What can I anchor a suspension trainer to?

A closed door with the supplied anchor, a solid overhead beam, a wall or ceiling mount rated for the load, or a sturdy tree branch outdoors. Never anchor to a door that opens toward you.
