The Smallest Piece of Kit That Actually Changes a Session
Your forehead and scalp are dense with eccrine sweat glands, and sweat runs downhill. Left alone it reaches your eyebrows and then your eyes, where the salt stings and you stop mid-rep to wipe it. A headband works by interception: an absorbent, wicking band across the brow catches the flow and pulls moisture along the fibres to a wider surface area, where it evaporates rather than dripping. The non-slip inner edge is the other half of the job — a band that migrates up your head every ten minutes is just another distraction.
Key Benefits
- Intercepts sweat before your eyes do — a wicking band across the brow stops the drip that makes you break form or stop a set.
- Non-slip inner surface — grips without needing to be strangling-tight. Pressure headaches come from over-tight bands, so grip is a better solution than tension.
- Keeps hair out of your face and your grip — useful in a downward dog, useful on a treadmill, useful when a barbell is on your back.
- Soft elastic that stays soft — a stretchy blend chosen so it doesn’t dig a red line into your forehead over a long session.
- Set of multiple bands — one drying while you wear another, which matters because a sweat-soaked band stops absorbing and starts smelling.
- Neutral, wearable colours — plain enough for the gym, the office desk and the school run without a change.
How to Use
Sit the band across the widest part of your forehead, just above the eyebrows, with the ends resting above and behind your ears — too high and the sweat simply runs under it. It should hold with light contact; if you need it tight to keep it in place, it’s the wrong size, and a band tight enough to leave a deep mark can trigger a compression headache. For long-hair use, pull hair back first, then seat the band, so it isn’t gradually pushed up by the volume underneath. Swap to a fresh band when the current one is saturated — a wet band no longer wicks, and prolonged wet fabric against the skin is a common cause of forehead irritation and breakouts.

Care & Maintenance
Wash after every heavy session. Sweat salts stiffen the fibres and cut absorbency, and bacteria on damp fabric is what causes both odour and forehead breakouts. Cool machine wash or hand wash with mild detergent, no fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and destroys the very wicking you bought the band for. Air-dry flat; a hot tumble dryer will kill the elastic.
