UV Protection Cycling Gloves – Ice Silk Touchscreen Sun Gloves for Women

Price range: $27.99 through $28.99

UV protection cycling gloves shield the hands from sun during riding and driving while keeping touchscreen use possible. They are full-finger ice-silk knit with conductive fingertips, silicone palm grip and a rated UV block. They are sun and grip gloves, not padded gloves — choose gel-palm gloves if you want vibration damping on long rides.

Sun Protection for the Two Body Parts Everyone Forgets

Fabric blocks ultraviolet light mechanically — tight weave density and yarn opacity stop photons from reaching skin, rather than absorbing them chemically the way sunscreen does. That is why fabric protection does not sweat off, wear down, or need reapplying every two hours. The trade-off is heat. Ice-silk yarns are engineered with high thermal conductivity, so they pull warmth away from the skin surface faster than cotton and feel cool on contact. You get a physical UV barrier over the back of the hand while the palm still breathes.

Key Benefits

  • Covers the highest-exposure surface on your hands. Gripping handlebars or a steering wheel leaves the dorsal side of the hand angled straight at the sun for the entire ride. That cumulative dose is why sun damage and pigmentation show on hands earlier than most people expect.
  • Protection that does not degrade mid-ride. Unlike sunscreen, a woven barrier does not sweat off at hour two or rub away on your bar tape. Put them on once and the coverage is constant.
  • Ice silk moves heat away instead of trapping it. The yarn conducts warmth off the skin, so a covered hand does not feel hotter than a bare one in still air.
  • Touchscreen fingertips mean you never take them off. Conductive thread at the thumb and index lets you change a playlist or check a route without stripping a glove and undoing the point of wearing them.
  • Non-slip palm grip for sweaty hands. Textured palm coating keeps purchase on drops, hoods and steering wheels when your hands are damp.
  • Useful well beyond the bike. Driving, gardening, kayaking, tennis, walking the dog — anything with sustained hands-forward sun exposure.

How to Use

Pull on so the cuff sits flush against your wrist with no gap between glove and sleeve — that seam is where sun sneaks in. Check the fit is snug but not stretched taut: UV-blocking fabric works by weave density, so a fabric stretched thin over a hand that is a size too large transmits noticeably more UV than the same fabric relaxed. Size up if in doubt. These gloves protect what they cover and nothing more, so still apply sunscreen to your forearms, wrists and any exposed skin above the cuff. Wash them regularly; grit and body oils degrade the yarn over time.

Care & Maintenance

Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle or hand wash, inside a mesh bag if you have one. Air dry only — tumble drying breaks down elastane and slackens the weave, which reduces both the fit and the UV barrier. No bleach, no fabric softener (softener coats the fibres and kills the cool-touch effect), no ironing. Replace them when the fabric starts to look thin or translucent when stretched.

Common questions

Where should the padding sit in cycling gloves?
Under the heel of the hand, where the handlebar presses on the ulnar nerve. Padding placement matters more than thickness, and too much padding can actually increase pressure elsewhere.
Wrist wraps or lifting straps?
Wraps stiffen and support the wrist joint for pressing and overhead work. Straps loop around the bar to take grip out of the equation on heavy pulls. They solve different problems.
How do you wash gym gloves?
Cold hand wash and air dry. Machine washing and tumble drying stiffen leather palms and delaminate padded inserts.
