Posture & Ergonomics

Desk back and neck pain is usually a setup problem rather than a discipline problem. Getting the screen to eye height, the elbows near 90 degrees and the lower back supported removes most of it — and each of those is a cheap fix.

This collection holds 16 lumbar cushions, footrests, stands and posture aids.

The 20-minute desk fix

  • Screen — top of the display at or just below eye level, an arm’s length away. A laptop stand plus an external keyboard solves this for laptop users.
  • Chair — hips slightly above knees, feet flat, lumbar cushion filling the gap at the lower back.
  • Elbows — around 90 degrees, shoulders relaxed and down.
  • Feet — flat on the floor or a footrest, never dangling.
  • Movement — stand and move for two minutes every 30 minutes. This matters more than any single accessory.

Frequently asked questions

Do lumbar cushions actually help?

Yes, when they fill the natural gap between your lower back and the chair, which stops the pelvis rolling backwards. The right size matters more than the material.

Should I use a posture corrector at my desk?

In short sessions of 20–30 minutes as a reminder. All-day wear lets the muscles that should hold your posture switch off.

Is a standing desk better than sitting?

Alternating is better than either extreme. Standing still all day creates its own problems; changing position regularly is the actual goal.
