Two Minutes That Change the Session
Here’s something most people never get told: you can squat heavy for years and barely recruit your glutes. If the glute medius isn’t switched on, the quads and lower back quietly take over, the knees drift inward, and you wonder why your legs grow and your glutes don’t. Two minutes of banded lateral walks before you train wakes the muscle up — and the squat that follows feels like a different exercise.
Key Benefits
- Activates glute medius before training, so it actually works during the session
- Prevents knees caving inward under load
- Lateral resistance that no barbell movement provides
- Multiple tension levels for progression
- Standard in hip and knee rehab
- Fits in a pocket
How to Use
Place the band just above the knees. Before any lower-body session: 15 lateral steps each direction, 15 clamshells per side, 15 glute bridges. Keep tension on the band throughout — actively press the knees outward. Do this before squatting, not after; the point is to switch the muscle on for the work that follows.
