Foam Rollers & Massage Balls

A foam roller works on large muscle groups by spreading bodyweight over a wide surface; a massage ball does the opposite, concentrating that same weight into a point small enough to reach a single knot. Between them they cover almost every self-massage need, which is why this pair is the standard first purchase for anyone starting a recovery routine.

We stock 51 rollers and balls, from soft 11.8in EVA rollers for beginners to rigid hollow-core grid rollers and 1.5in trigger point balls.

How to choose a foam roller

Match the density to your experience and the length to where you will use it. Soft foam compresses under bodyweight and is the right starting point; high-density and hollow-core rollers keep their shape and deliver far more pressure at the same bodyweight.

Type Pressure Best for
Smooth EVA, soft Low Beginners, sensitive tissue, post-injury
Grid / textured Medium General use, IT band, quads
Hollow core, rigid High Experienced users, dense muscle
Peanut / dual ball Targeted Either side of the spine, calves
Lacrosse ball Very high Glutes, feet, shoulder blades

What length?

  • 36in — lie on it lengthways along the spine; best for chest opening and stability work.
  • 18in — the all-rounder for legs and back.
  • 12in and under — travel, calves and arms.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I foam roll each muscle?

Sixty to ninety seconds per muscle group. Move slowly, about an inch per second, and pause on tight spots for 20–30 seconds rather than rolling back and forth quickly.

Should I foam roll before or after a workout?

Both work for different reasons. Before training, 30 seconds per area improves range of motion without reducing strength. After training, longer holds reduce next-day soreness.

Which areas should I never foam roll?

The lower back, the front of the neck, the abdomen and directly over joints or bone. For the lower back, use a ball on the glutes and the muscles either side of the spine instead.
